The white 20 inch build of our kids mountain bike — the trail bike that follows the XJD balance bike by about six summers.
On the driveway
At 20 inches it suits riders of roughly eight to eleven. The hardtail frame is high-strength steel, the fork is suspended, and both wheels carry disc brakes with a positive bite in mud. Twenty-one gears cover the steep bit at the end of the lane and the long flat back.
Out of the carton
Assembly is the front wheel, handlebar, pedals and saddle, with the tools supplied. White shows the dirt, which some riders count as proof of a good weekend. Check the stock badge; the 24 inch and the radiant finish sit on the sibling page.
Three things we would point out
- 20 inch white hardtail
- Mechanical disc brakes front and rear
- Knobby all-terrain tyres

Where it sits beside the XJD balance bike
Six summers after the XJD balance bike, this is where the same child often lands. The saddle feels comfortable over a long ride, the tyres are non-slip on gravel, and the frame is sturdy enough for jumps it was not designed for. Installation is short with the supplied tools, and it makes a safe, generous gift.
