XJD kids bike helmet and pad sets
What goes on the head above an XJD balance bike, sized down three times rather than once.
The cheapest thing on this site and the only one that has to be right on day one. Two shells cover twelve months to fourteen years, both adjustable from a dial at the back of the head, and both certified for bike, scooter and skate use rather than bike alone.
Five models, in blue, pink, purple, white, black and the Pink Flowers print. Three of them ship as a set with knee, elbow and wrist pads in the same carton, which is how it should be sold, because nobody goes back for the pads later.

Fitting it so it stays
Measure around the head an inch above the brow. The small shell takes 48 to 52 centimetres, the large 50 to 57, and when you land on the overlap take the larger. Level on the head, two fingers above the eyebrow, strap snug enough that an open mouth pulls the helmet down. If it rocks back when you push the front, the dial is not wound in far enough.
The liner is soft, supportive EPS foam with a washable pad set in it, the vents are cut big because a child who is hot takes the helmet off, and the chin strap runs through a non-slip divider so it does not creep into the throat. It feels like nothing after ten minutes, which is the point.
- Two shells: 48 to 52 cm and 50 to 57 cm
- Rear dial adjustment, no tools
- Multi-sport shell for bike, scooter and skate
- Knee, elbow and wrist pads in matched sets
- Six colourways including Pink Flowers

There is no assembly, and that is worth saying
Out of the box and onto the head. No tools, no installation, no modular design to understand: the only adjustment is the dial and the strap, and both take a few seconds. The pads in the set are the same, hook-and-loop straps you pull snug.
Replace a helmet after any impact that marked the shell, and replace it anyway when it stops fitting or after about three years of sun. Foam ages whether or not it has been hit.
What it rides with
Everything else here. The balance bike for a two year old, the kids bike with training wheels, a three-wheel scooter, a wiggle car, a powered go-kart with a parent remote. One helmet covers all of it, which is why we make the shell multi-sport.
It also makes an honest gift, which is rare in safety equipment: a helmet in a colour the child chose gets worn, and a sensible one chosen by an adult sits in the garage. Let them pick. Sturdy is our job; the pattern is theirs.
What the XJD balance bike line has in common
Nine shelves, one pattern. A balance bike, a kids scooter and a ride on car are built around the same soft, supportive PU seat, the same non-slip grips and the same wheels, chosen because they run smooth and quiet indoors as well as out. A sturdy frame under a toddler is what makes the first month safe; a baby being lifted on by a parent is the other half of the brief, and the low seat height is there for exactly that.
What comes in the box is as deliberate as what rolls out of it. The modular design keeps the awkward joins factory-fitted, the tools you need are taped inside, and installation is finished within a quarter of an hour. Bought as a gift it arrives looking like a present rather than a kit, it feels right under a hand straight away and stays comfortable past the first week, and nobody would need a workshop. Every model here is assembled on the kitchen floor in one go.
On this shelf the pattern is the pad set: the same foam and the same dial fit, sized down three times rather than once.
- One PU seat shape across the bikes, so a hand-me-down feels familiar under a younger child
- Non-slip grips and rounded bolt heads on every frame on this shelf
- Tools in the carton; installation inside fifteen minutes on a kitchen floor
- Published weights, so you know what a toddler can pick up and right again alone
- Colours and sizes listed as separate rows, because that is how they go out of stock
