The black 18 inch freestyle BMX — the quiet colour of our park bike, for riders a few years past the XJD balance bike.
On the driveway
Same smaller geometry as the white 18 inch: a short 152 mm crank, 32-tooth chainring and a frame low enough for a seven year old to plant both feet. The U-brake is alloy and the levers are knurled so a gloved or sweaty hand still finds them.
Out of the carton
Ten minutes with the supplied tools and the installation video. Black hides scuffs, which matters on a bike that will be dropped on concrete more than once a day.
Three things we would point out
- 18 inch black frame
- Knurled anti-slip brake levers
- Hides the scuffs of park riding

Where it sits beside the XJD balance bike
Plenty of kids who start on an XJD balance bike want a black BMX by eight. This one is sturdy, rides smooth over kerbs, has a low seat for tricks and non-slip levers. Assembly is quick with the supplied tools, and it feels like a proper park bike — the gift that gets used daily.
