The plain, two-size version of our XJD toddler helmet — one colourway, one job: staying level on a small head from the first balance bike lap.
On the driveway
X-Small covers 18.1 to 20 inches for ages one to five, Small runs 20.5 to 22 inches for five to eight. Fourteen vents with meshed fronts, soft hook-and-loop padding inside, and a fit dial you turn right to tighten. The strap webbing is flexible enough that it sits flat under the chin rather than digging in.
Out of the carton
It comes ready to wear with the liner fitted. We use it for bikes, longboards, skates and pogo sticks around the workshop, which is a fair description of what a five year old will do with it in a week. If you want colour choice, the sibling helmet with twenty-four patterns is the one to look at.
Three things we would point out
- Two shells: 18.1–20 and 20.5–22 inches
- Meshed front vents keep insects out
- Fit dial for a growing head

Great helmet quality and fit - my daughter loves it!

Mr. Anderson November 5, 2025I bought this for my 8 year old daughter, and she loves it. She picked the color herself and says it’s very comfortable, even with her long hair. It is lightweight and the quality feels solid. The fit is perfect after adjusting the dial. The inside has a nice mesh liner (see my picture). Downsides: The clip is a little tricky for her to undo alone, so I sometimes help her take the helmet off. It's not MIPS helmet, but most kids helmet don't seem to have this. The visor is not adjustable but at least it has one. No LED lights, I didn't want any but worth mentioning. Overall: It’s lightweight, stylish, and a great value for the price; highly recommend.
Large, fun helmet

Fabulousjen October 15, 2019It's too big for my 2 year old so I can't speak to how well it works yet, but it does seem very sturdy and well made. He loved the orange color, and had fun wearing it. It's very large and bulky, but I'm assuming that helps with the safety aspect so we'll deal with it!
Next to the XJD balance bike
Riding a balance bike, a ride-on car or a trike, a toddler falls sideways more than forward, and this shell is shaped for that. It feels light, the padding is soft and supportive, and it is safe straight out of the box — nothing to assemble. Pair it with the bike's comfortable PU seat and smooth wheels.
